Janie Hunter was an oral historian, singer and storyteller from John's Island, SC. She first came to prominence as a member of the Moving Star Hall Singers, in the 1960's. The group, made up mostly of her large family, began singing at the Moving Star Hall Praise House, which still stands. Ron and I were privileged to meet and tour with her when we were youngsters in the early 1980's. Everytime we saw her she'd say, "I have a new grand baby or great grandbaby." What a joy it was to be in her presence!
