12" x 18" print. I loved my Uncle Simeon. He taught me about unconditional love. He taught me about carrot juice and natural healing. He had the biggest brightest smile and the best laugh. He taught me to drive and didn't get mad at me when I wrecked the family van. We named our son after him. This painting was taken from a photo of Uncle Simeon holding my eldest, Sara Makeba, on his lap. I have no idea what he was telling her. Her expression tells me that she might be skeptical... The composition of the photo reminded me of Henry Ossawa Tanner's The Banjo Lesson. So I paid homage to that painting as well. If you check out the background you will see how.
The original, oil on canvas, is still available.
